Blood Test Can Predict Risk Of Early Death, Researchers Claim

PA If you’ve ever wanted to know whether you’re at risk of an early death, a team of researchers in Germany have created a groundbreaking test for you.
Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing identified 14 factors in the blood that are associated with dying from an early cause. These include immunity, glucose control, inflammation and circulating fat.
Blood test from thousands of adults were analysed, 44,168 people to be precise. Ages of the participants ranged from 18 to 109 years old. They used the findings to predict whether someone was going to die in the next two to 16 years.
Researchers say they created a score based on the molecules that help to predict someone’s risk of death. Participants were given a score ranging from -2 to 3. The higher the number from the blood test, the more likely a person was going to die early.
PA Over 5,500 participants died during a follow-up of these results, with this new type of test predicting their risk of death with 83..

Playboy Model Criticised For Squatting An Alligator In ‘Cruel’ Workout Video

Jam Press A Playboy model has been accused of animal abuse after squatting using a live alligator during a workout video for Instagram.
Francia James, from Miami, bragged about taking her workout to dangerous levels by lifting with the five-foot gator, weighing around 70lbs at Everglades Holiday Park.
Just a word of warning, it makes for some pretty grim viewing:
The content creator, who refuses to reveal her age, joked, ‘these gators were nice to me because I promised them I wouldn’t make them into a pair of shoes.’
She continued, ‘I was scared as there were 12 of them walking around in the pit, but I had Chris from the TV show Gator Boys to help me handle the gators safely.
‘I always loved them and wanted to be around them, so I called the holiday park and arranged a private time in the pit.’
Jam Press The video also shows Francia prising the gator’s jaw open and sitting on his back after lifting him out of the water and using him as a weight.
Despite claiming to love the crea..

Mortal Kombat’s Gruesome Sounds Are Made In Some Weird Ways

NetherRealm Mortal Kombat, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, is a pretty intense and violent franchise. NetherRealm’s iconic fighter has a long and storied history of bone-breaking, head smashing fatalities that have only gotten more immersive and believable over time.
You might wonder exactly how the good folk at NetherRealm make these brutal attacks so realistic. You’ve probably already heard that those tasked with animating the fatalities have to study some pretty nasty content (which can reportedly take a real toll), but creating the sound effects for the attacks looks to be a much more light-hearted affair.
NetherRealm That’s according to an excellent new video from VICE anyway. The publication recently visited the NetheRealm HQ in Chicago, and were treated to a behind the scenes look at the cutting edge techniques employed by the studio to replicate the sound of snapped spines, broken noses, and people being torn in half.
Thankfully, the process used to synthesise these sounds is n..

Quentin Tarantino Expecting To Become Dad For First Time Aged 56

PA Quentin Tarantino and his wife Daniella Pick are expecting their first child.
The acclaimed filmmaker had apparently always said he was ‘too busy with work’ to have children. It seems the timing couldn’t be better then, as Tarantino has previously suggested his latest film, Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, could be his last, so he’ll have all the time in the world for fatherhood.
Then again, he’s also said he wants a ‘terrific horror’ to be his tenth and final movie, so we’ll see how long he’s away from the camera for.
Who knows, perhaps being a dad will soften Tarantino and he’ll back with a heart-warming tale about fatherhood… or perhaps not.
PA In a statement, a publicist for the couple told the Mirror:
Daniella and Quentin Tarantino are very delighted to announce that they are expecting a baby.
Daniella and Quentin have been together since 2009, they met while the director was promoting his film Inglourious Basterds.
Daneilla, a singer and model, is the daughter of Israeli..

Age Of Empires 4 Gameplay Reveal Finally Coming In November

Microsoft Ahead of Gamescom, Microsoft promised that we’d be getting some exciting news regarding Age of Empires. Most of us assumed this news would be a first look at Relic Entertainment’s Age of Empires 4 – first announced in 2017 – in action.
This was, sadly, not the case. Instead, Microsoft’s big Age of Empires announcement was confirmation that the upcoming Age Of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, a remaster of the 1999 strategy classic would be releasing on November 14, this year.
Microsoft This was hardly the most upsetting news to get. After all, Age Of Empires 2: Definitive Edition was also announced back in 2017, and there are plenty of fans who are excited to know that it’s only a matter of months before they’ll be able to revisit the classic, with updated visuals and even some new gameplay features and content.
Still, we all are curious to see exactly how the newest game in the franchise is shaping up, aren’t we? Luckily, it looks like November 14 will be a big day for Age..

Another Texas Prankster Has Licked Blue Bell Ice Cream And Put It Back On Shelf

Dapper Don / Facebook Just when you thought it was safe to grab a nice tub of ice cream for a night in, a prankster has forced us to shove our scoops firmly to the bottom of the kitchen drawer. Again.
I regret to inform you that footage has – yet again – gone viral of a person removing and licking a tub of Blue Bell ice cream from a Walmart freezer, before replacing it.
The video – which has since elicited a fair few scoops of disgust and outrage – shows a young man from southeast Texas running his tongue all over the Homemade Vanilla flavoured ice cream.
The unappetising footage emerged earlier this week, after it was shared on Facebook by a user known only as ‘Dapper Don’. Don uploaded the 19 second vid with the truly chilling caption, ‘Happy national soft ice cream day lmao’ completed with a crying laughing emoji.
However, many those who saw the clip did not share Don’s mirth, and were far from ‘lmao-ing’. Indeed, you couldn’t move for the sea of angry red faces after the grim t..

PlayStation 5 Dev Kit Seemingly Confirmed By Developer

Sony The PlayStation 5 remains something of a mystery, but a recently discovered Sony patent for a new game console had many assuming they were finally looking at the PS5 dev kit in all its glory.
After a ResetEra thread sparked speculation that the patent held some clues as to what the PlayStation 5 (or at the very least a PS5 dev kit) might look like, game developer Matthew Stott took to Twitter to claim that the design seen in the patent is the same as the dev kit he has in his office.
Stott’s tweet seems to have since been deleted, which tends to mean someone has said something they perhaps shouldn’t have said. This is the internet though, and nothing is really gone forever – you can see a screenshot of the tweet below.
Matthew Stott While it looks like the Matthew Stott who made this claim on Twitter is the same Matthew Stott who, according to Linkedin, works as a Senior Artist at Codemasters, it should be noted that the claim came from an unverified Twitter account and could ..

Microsoft Contractors Reportedly Listened In On Xbox One Owners

Microsoft Microsoft contractors have been listening in on audio recordings of Xbox One owners at home thanks to inadvertently triggered Xbox voice commands that resulted in recordings being stored by Microsoft, a new report claims.
A piece published by VICE Motherboard reveals that the words “Xbox” followed by “on” or “help” as well as “Hey Cortana” would trigger voice commands on the console that were then captured and stored. While it wasn’t a secret that Microsoft could record and access this audio, the report has brought to light the fact that accidental recordings were also being stored and accessed in the same way.
Microsoft A current contractor for Microsoft told Motherboard that a lot of these inadvertently recorded conversations would end up being activated by people “telling Cortana no” as they were in the middle of a game and talking to friends. One former contractor revealed that many of the audio recordings contained the voices of children.
The former contractor explai..

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Named Forbes Highest Paid Actor Of Past Year

PA/therock/Instagram Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been named as the highest-paid actor of the last year, according to the latest annual ranking from Forbes.
The list includes celebrities’ overall earnings and doesn’t solely rely on payments they have received for acting, with brand endorsements often making up a large part of their income.
In the last year, The Rock has starred in The Fast and the Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, as well as Skyscraper, and has produced films such as Shazam! and Fighting with my Family. He’s also endorsed brands like Under Armour.
PA According to Forbes, Johnson climbed from his number two spot last year despite his $89.4 million earnings actually being less than the $124 million he made the year prior.
Last year’s highest paid actor George Clooney has dropped out of the top 10 entirely – primarily because the majority of his $239 million earnings in 2018 came from the sale of his tequila company, Casamigos Tequila, in a deal worth $1 billion.
Elsew..
